Computer Investigations and eDiscovery
eDiscovery
eDiscovery is a process designed to identify, analyze and transfer data stored in digital means, such as computers (Computer Forensics), cellular phones (Mobile Forensics), servers, clouds and more.
The data discovery process is performed as part of a legal process or intra-organizational investigation facilitating the detection of required documents and their presentation to the relevant authorities as authentic evidence.
Legal and supervisory authorities in many countries, with the United States of America and the United Kingdom in the lead, require the receipt of computer files and documents only when those have undergone a full eDiscovery process, from the collection of a document to its submittal. Different authorities require document reporting to be performed according to their own unique structure, and for that purpose appropriate tools and skills to perform the task are required.
More and more testing, investigation and reporting processes are performed these days through the eDiscovery process, due to increasing demand for Cross Border information, the EU General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and the practical effectivity of the process.
